It's been a long summer! Had some GREAT things happen in my life and not so great things. But that's how it goes. I dunno who missed me but biznass has been super slow. It's funny how a lot of people don't take branding and marketing seriously when in comes to investing in themselves. But I'm a super hero, championing for the small and ridiculously smart and mutating-ly talented designers! Fight the good fight, DESIGN will become the forefront of the big business machine once again! The conglomerate of coaching gurus asked crumbs to create a leaflet to send to potential clients.

I always loved this photo of Malcolm X looking out of his window, ready to protect his family by any means he could. I sketched this and retouched it in Adobe Photoshop. My weapon of choice is my TOMBOW double point black marker and a sketch pad. And a CRUMB creates by, "Any means necessary."

One of the reasons I love comic art over other mediums such as portrait/realism is because of the fantasy of it. In this world that is created through movement and style, each artist can become the ultimate creator and develop characters who bleed ink into American Icons that capture the imagination of millions.

BUCK FIFTY is my ConcreteCrumb creation. And my salute to all of the men and women of all complexions that gave their blood, sweat and tears during the Civil Rights Movement. Happy Black History Month! Rock on.

FINDING MY IDENTITY....

Above are two very different clients with several different looks. 

I love the challenge of designing logos for upstarts. I channel my schizophrenic design eye and a little telekinetic mind reading doesn't hurt. I call it the "DESIPHRENIC State". (I just made that up) Variety is a key component to selling anything...I give them as many looks as I can and then let the client decide.

FASHION TEST WEBSITE FOR SLY MAGAZINE...

A couple of years ago I took on a gig that entailed designing an interactive website for a fashion magazine based on shoes. Although SLY Magazine never saw the light of day due to budgetary constraints I kept the design. Who knows it may come in handy one day. The challenge of creating such a vast website made me step up my game. I love being a CRUMB!

The customer is always right! If you live by this motto, you'll always be a happy designer.  In an earlier post, Crumbs displayed the layout for one of the pages for the Bay Area therapist's website. Although she liked the professionalism of the layout, for her site she felt it just wasn't right. After a revamp and a total 180, we came up with this look that she loves. Ahh...I love it when a plan comes together.

Perception.....

Branding can be perception. It's a point of view rooted in an identity. Ever turned a Coke can upside down? It definitely reads "aloC acoC", But we can still identify it as one of America's most popular pops. Concretecrumbs takes an idea and we turn it upside down, until it's recognized even inside out. After all, perception is everything.

 

What is CONCRETECRUMBS?

Crumbs come from a solid background. We separate from the whole and blow off into the winds of change, ingenuity and innovation. Crumbs gathering in on place are a force to recon with. Alone our significance is noticeable upon tabletops, couch seats and wool garments. Alone we are one person standing defiantly against a military tank. Alone we are the singular word that sparks a revolution.  Together we can crush buildings, create a mountain, and create an entire world. We are concrete, we exist in reality or in real experiences; perceptible by the senses; real, organic. We are form by the coalescence of separate particles capable of forming one mass.  Crumbs of Concrete; we grow together. We are more than the sum of our parts. WE ARE CONCRETE CRUMBS!
